What is dry lining?

Dry lining is the application of plasterboard or other sheet materials to surfaces such as existing walls, or fabricated wooden and metal frames. Dry lining is a fast and effective way to create practical surfaces and partition walls within your working space. The end result is a smooth, consistent surface which can be decorated easily.

AK Shopfitting use only the best dry lining systems from leading manufacturers such as British Gypsum, Knauf and Lafarge.

For partition walling, AK Shopfitting prefer to use drywall metal framework. We can fix various different plasterboards, OSB boards, plywood or calcium silicate boards depending on the requirements of the job. Metal framed partitioning and walls are ideal for various buildings whether they are domestic, commercial or industrial. AK Shopfitting pride themselves on providing outstanding quality regardless of the size and scale of the job.

Suspended ceilings

Suspended ceilings (sometimes called drop ceilings or false ceilings) are ceiling structures which hang below a physical ceiling.

They typically consist of a metal framework with lightweight tiles, lighting fixtures and air conditioning making up the visible surface.

AK Shopfitting supply and install a full range of suspended ceilings available in today's market.

We only use the highest quality materials from leading manufacturers such as Armstrong Ceilings, AMF Ceilings Rockwool, Treetex, British Gypsum and Knauf.

Suspended Ceilings are installed for many reasons, primarily in office and retail environments. They are used for aesthetic purposes, with the space above the ceiling being ideal to conceal pipework, electrical and networking infrastructure. Industrial applications include acoustic barriers, thermal barriers and even anti bacterial applications for use in medical environments.

When combined with partitioning, suspended ceilings can transform an unpleasant space into a productive office or commercial area. If you would like to know more about what we can do with suspended ceilings, alone or as part of a larger project, please contact us.

MF (metal frame) ceilings

We supply and install a range of MF (metal frame) ceilings available in today’s market from the leading manufacturers including Armstrong & British Gypsum and offer advice on which MF ceiling would best meet your requirements.

Rather than a suspended ceiling system with a grid of replaceable tiles, a MF ceiling provides a flat plasterboard surface and is a more permanent type of structure.

Applications for MF Ceilings:
  • Sound proofing
  • Acoustic
  • Fire rated
  • Thermal performance
  • Standard plasterboard
If you would like to find out more about what we can do with MF ceilings, alone or as part of a larger project please contact us.
